About Bill Stone
Contemporary artist Bill Stone paints thick, vibrant, oils on canvas influenced by the color, movement, and texture found in the natural world around us. His deliberate bold strokes create a weight and sense of elegance to his vibrant abstract works and add intense spirit to his expressive figures.
"I start with a big flowing design that keeps your eye constantly moving and returning back into the canvas. Then I develop more detailed layers that engage on a deeper level. I don't want you to look away and always see something new each time you view it."
Bill is fascinated with color relationships and obsessively experiments with the possibilities in each of his paintings. His collectors say his use of color and texture are the main reasons they love his work.
Stone has his studio is in Algonquin, Illinois. His roots are grounded in Massachusetts where he grew up in a rural community south of Boston. He graduated from Vesper George School of Art in Boston, studying commercial and fine art. This is where he fell in love with painting. His professional art career began as an illustrator/graphic designer for a local magazine publisher and then as an art director for a small ad agency in Boston. Bill went on to become an award-winning Creative Director for a major international advertising agency in Chicago, although, throughout his career, he never stopped painting.
